In recent years there has been a vast increase in the number of businesses establishing volunteer opportunities for their employees, to enable them to get involved and give back to their local communities.
Hughes Insurance are delighted to announce that as a part of the #ServeWithLiberty programme, our employees will be taking party in a volunteer initiative, for the second year running, which will run from the 19th to the 23rd June.
The volunteers will take a hands on approach in a range of activities including gardening, cleaning, painting and general maintenance for a variety of local charities and community groups.
If you are interested to hear more about who our volunteers will be helping, please read on below:
Downs Syndrome Association
Downs Syndrome Association is the only organisation in Northern Ireland which focuses on all aspects of living with Downs Syndrome. The organisation was originally set up in 1970, and has grown from being a small local parent support group to a national charity with over 20,000 members and offices spread across the United Kingdom.Despite the growth, the organisation is ran by only 36 staff – many of whom work part time.
Hughes Insurance staff will be helping this charity by providing gardening assistance and painting around their Chalet at the Share Centre, and by assisting with painting and the arranging of paint work in their Belfast office.
Wave Trauma CentreCamphill Community Glencraig
The Camphill Community Glencraig was founded in 1954 to support both children and adults with learning disabilities. The Glencraig is home to around 180 people, and offers a variety of therapeutic workshops including farm, garden, laundry, weavery and pottery.
We will be supporting Glencraig through a number of outdoor gardening projects, including weeding and painting.
In 2016, our employees took part in the Give and Gain week, and a number of those are participating again this year because they felt the experience was so rewarding - just look at those happy faces from last year!
